JENNIFER SHEARER . . . you’re going to the 2011 CDS Adult Amateur Clinic with Donna Richardson!

Jennifer Shearer is the lucky winner of the SFP chapter drawing to participate in the CDS Northern California Adult Amateur Clinic with Donna Richardson. The clinic will be held May 20-22, 2011, at Santa Rosa Equestrian Center. Valerie Metcalfe’s name was drawn as the backup rider. All chapter members are encouraged to attend as auditors – this is a great learning opportunity for everyone. Congratulations Jennifer!

January 9th saw more than 50 chapter members, family and friends gathered upstairs at NCEFT to applaud the highest scoring chapter members at every level of CDS competition in 2010, as well as the top winners in the Coastside Schooling Show Series.

Akiko Yamazaki gave a special presentation about her superstar horse, Ravel, who brought home two bronze medals from the World Equestrian Games held last fall in Kentucky. In addition, she generously donated a Breyer model of Ravel for a silent auction fundraiser for the chapter.

Sandy Holmes won the bid, along with the chapter’s thanks for her generous donation, and Akiko later had Steffen Peters, Ravel’s revered rider, include his autograph for Sandy.

Rachel Williamson accepts her award from Nan Meek and Michele De Luna

The Regional Adult Amateur Competition, known as “The RAAC”, gives CDS members a great way to gain competitive experience, have fun, and win great prizes.

This year, SFP will be hosting the Northern RAAC in partnership with the Woodside Summer Dressage and Breed Show July 14-17 at The Horse Park at Woodside.
NEW in 2011! At the recent CDS Annual Meeting, the state board added to the RAAC a “Basic Level”. Riders can now qualify and compete at Intro Level Test C for Basic Level RAAC awards. It’s a great entry-level competition goal for even the newest dressage rider or competitor, as well as young and green horses.

Click here for more information about the RAAC.

SUMMARY of new USEF helmet rules effective March 1, 2011, for dressage: Anyone mounted on a horse must wear protective headgear except those riders age 18 and over while on horses that are competing only in FEI levels and tests at the Prix St. Georges level and above (including FEI Young Rider Tests, the USEF Developing Prix St. Georges Test and the USEF Brentina Cup Test).
